Q: What will happen to my account balance?
A: All account balances, as well as all account history, will transfer automatically to your new Mastercard account.
Q: When will my new card arrive?
A: As long as your account remains open and in good standing, It will come in the next four to six weeks. Once you get it, activate it and destroy your Merrick Bank Visa® card. Until then, continue using your Visa card.
Q: Will I see anything different with my account at the credit bureau?
A: Your account number will update to your new Mastercard number. All other information will be reported in the same manner it does today.
Q: Will I continue to receive my statements at the same time?
A: Yes. You shouldn’t see any changes to your billing statement or payment due date.
Q: Why is Merrick Bank changing to Mastercard?
A: We want our customers to have the best card benefits possible. Mastercard has more benefits and features. For instance, your new Mastercard will come with Price Drop Protection, ID Theft Monitoring, Dark Web Monitoring, ID Theft Expense Reimbursement, Global Services, Concierge Services and Priceless Experiences! These are features that weren’t available with your Visa.
Q: Will my account number change?
A: Yes, your account number will change. Your new card will reflect your new account number, expiration date, and CVV code. Your next monthly billing statement will also show the new account number.
Q: Will my PIN number change with my new card?
A: No, your PIN number won’t change.
Q: Can I still use my current Merrick Bank Visa credit card?
A: You can continue to use your current Visa credit card until you receive your new Merrick Bank Mastercard. Your old Visa credit card will be deactivated shortly after you receive your new card even if it has a valid expiration date. Please be sure to activate your new card as soon as you receive it.
Q: Can I still manage my account online or with the mobile app? Do I have to do anything?
A: Yes, you can still manage your account online or with the mobile app. You don’t need to do anything – your current username and password will remain the same. Your account information will be automatically updated.
Q: Will I still have access to all of my services (goPaperless, goMobile, etc.)?
A: Yes, your enrollment in any services, such as paperless statements or the Merrick Bank Mobile App will stay the same.
Q: Do I have to update my account information with any companies that automatically charge my Merrick Bank card?
A: Yes – you’ll need to update your card information with any stores, sites, retailers, subscriptions or memberships that automatically charge your card to avoid any disruption of service. You will have a new account number, expiration date and CVV code.
Q: I have automatic payments set up to pay my Merrick Bank credit card bill. Do I need to update that information?
A: No, if you have automatic payments set up to pay your Merrick Bank account, your payment schedule will automatically transfer over to your Mastercard account and your recurring payments will continue as scheduled.
